ICAI DAY: AI Entrepreneurship: From the lab to the market

On June 1st, the Summer Edition of the ICAI Day 2022 will take place. The theme of this edition is AI Entrepreneurship: From the lab to the market. It will be a hybrid event with an exciting and interactive program with lunch table discussions, presentations from two keynote speakers and other AI experts during the plenary part.

Programme

12.00 hr: Opening

Part 1: Lunch Table Discussion (not online, only on location)
12:00 – 13:30 hr: Topic The life cycle of a Startup in different sectors
Each table in the ‘Lunch Table Discussion’ revolves around a different topic. You can choose between these five topics:

  • Health-care
  • Service industry
  • Robotic
  • Public domain
  • Transportation/ Mobility

Part 2: The Plenary Session (online and on location)

  • 13:45 – 14:00 hr: Welcome by the ICAI team
  • 14:00 –14:15 hr: ICAI updates
  • 14:15 – 14:45 hr: Two keynote speakers on the mistakes and final solutions of different phases in the Startup journey
  • 14:15 –14:30 hr: The The ideation phase – the importance of early validation presented by Chris Slootweg (UvA)
    • 14:30 – 14:45 hr: From research to the application presented by Hinda Haned (UvA)
    • 14:45 – 15:00 hr: The Rise of Venture Building by TTT.AI
  • 15:00 – 15:15 hr: Break with Startup posters
  • 15:15 – 15:30 hr: A talk by Venture Capital
  • 15:30 – 15:45 hr: A talk by TechLeap.nl
  • 15:45 – 16:20 hr: Panel Discussion on three main challenges – Moderator: Desiree Hoving
    • Challenges:
      • Lacking a sufficient infrastructure that is often needed for AI-related activities
      • Having access to (large) datasets to validate their innovative AI solutions
      • Dealing with bias as a result of the lack of expertise on social impact and diversity 
  • 16:20 – 16:30 hr: Closing word by the ICAI team
  • 16:30 – 17:30 hr: Drinks with posters from Startup

Building blocks

The NL AIC collaborates on the necessary common knowledge and expertise, resulting in five themes, also called building blocks. Those are important for a robust impact in economic and social sectors.

Sectors

AI is a generic technology that is ultimately applicable in all sectors. For the development of knowledge and experience in the use of AI in the Netherlands, it is essential to focus on specific industries that are relevant to our country. These industries can achieve excellent results, and knowledge and experience that can be leveraged for application in other sectors.

Become a participant

The Netherlands AI Coalition is convinced that active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders is essential to stimulate and connect initiatives in Artificial Intelligence. Within fields of expertise and with other stakeholders in the ecosystem to achieve the most significant result possible in the development and application of AI in the Netherlands. Representatives from the business community (large, small, start-up), government, research and educational institutions and civil society organisations can participate.
