As the Netherlands AI Coalition (NL AIC), we are convinced that active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders in one’s own application area as well as with other stakeholders in the ecosystem, is essential to stimulate and connect initiatives in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Hence, to achieve the highest possible impact for the development and application of AI in the Netherlands, the NL AIC offers two different participation variants: a full-participation or an introductory one.

Full-participation

In this variant, you as an organisation are actively involved in the activities of the NL AIC. That means you receive information about all NL AIC activities, invitations to meetings and events, and you also have access to detailed information about the activities and projects of the various working groups. You have the opportunity to participate in projects, exchange experience with other participants, and have access to collaborations among participants too. In this variant, you have a direct influence on the content and implementation of projects of the coalition and the related public/private cooperation projects.

Cost
The fee for this membership is 1000 euros per annum or 15,000 euros per annum for companies with a revenue larger than 25 million euros). Besides, there are attractive conditions for group participation and start-ups as well (inquiries via NL AIC). In addition to the membership costs, active involvement in an NL AIC activity is requested.

Introductory participation

This variant is especially interesting for small organisations that want to know more about AI in general and what AI can do for them. As a participant, you have access to general information for a maximum of three months and you can participate in a working group and are welcome at certain events.

Cost
You can participate free of charge for a period of three months. After three months you can (if you wish) change to the participation membership. The costs are listed above. 

Criteria for participation

Only by proactively deploying AI, we can as the Netherlands, help determine how AI is applied to social and economic challenges and, as a consequence, benefit from it. AI is not a goal in itself, but a powerful tool for maintaining and expanding our international competitive position and solving economic and social issues. The ambition of the Netherlands AI Coalition (NL AIC) is to stimulate and connect initiatives in AI together with its participants. To this end, it is vital to accelerate, scale-up and gain efficiency and effectiveness on a national level.

To guide this, we have drawn up several criteria for participation:

– Participants jointly ensure that their initiatives contribute to one or more of the strategic objectives of NL AIC via working groups:

• Data Sharing: setting up and implementing a national data-sharing approach.
• Human Capital: developing, attracting and retaining AI talent for the Netherlands and developing a labour force capable of working with AI.
• Social Acceptance and Inclusion: involving (the Dutch) end-users from the start in an inclusive approach, with attention to ethical frameworks, security and privacy, so that everyone benefits from the AI technology.
• Research and Innovation: connecting the Dutch knowledge and innovation chain of AI, so that a coherent and coordinated AI research and innovation programme can be developed within the Netherlands.
• Start-ups and Scale-ups: stimulating and supporting new AI-driven companies.

– Participants make an in-kind and in-cash contribution to the NL AIC and actively participate.

– Participants commit themselves to the NL AIC governance structure, participation agreement and program to strengthen AI for the Netherlands based on:

• cooperation on a national level, aimed at learning and knowledge sharing;
• a human centric approach to AI.

– Participants are legal entities established in the Netherlands (not private persons) that demonstrably have activities (research, innovation, education, application) or plans that contribute to the development of the Netherlands in the area of AI.
